What is the Hreflang Tag Exporter & Checker?

hreflang tags tell Google which page to show for each language or country. For example, one page for English India (en-IN) and one for Hindi (hi). If they are set up wrong, people may land on the wrong language.

This tool lists every hreflang tag on a page, from the HTML and from HTTP headers. It checks the language codes, looks for x-default and a self link, and can even visit each language version to see if it links back. Export everything to CSV in one click.

How to use it

  1. Paste the address of a page that has language versions.
  2. Tick Also check return links if you want a deeper check.
  3. Press Get hreflang tags and read the warnings.
  4. Save the list with CSV or Copy.

Frequently asked questions

What is x-default?
It is the page to show when none of the listed languages match the visitor. Usually it is your main or language-selector page.
Why do return links matter?
Google needs both pages to point to each other. If page A lists page B but B does not list A, Google may ignore the tags.
Is "en-UK" correct?
No. The country code for the United Kingdom is GB, so use en-GB. Our tool marks codes like this as invalid.
Can hreflang be in the sitemap?
Yes. Some sites put hreflang in their XML sitemap instead of the page. This tool checks the page and headers only.
