This policy works together with our DPDP Act notice (your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023) and our Cookie Policy.
1. No accounts, except for Space Planner
ToolPoint has no sign up and no login for visitors. We do not ask for your name, phone number or email to use any tool. The one exception is the Space Planner, which needs a free sign-in with Google. See Space Planner sign-in below.
2. Calculators and web remotes
All calculators and web remotes run inside your own browser. The numbers you type and the device settings you enter (like an MQTT broker address) are not sent to our server. Some tools save your last settings in your browser's local storage so you do not have to type them again. You can clear this any time by clearing your browser data.
When you connect a web remote to your own device, your browser talks straight to that device or to the MQTT broker you choose. We cannot see those messages.
3. Website tools and downloaders
When you use a tool that reads another website, the address you enter is sent to our server. Our server fetches that public page or file, works on it, and sends the result back to you. We do not save the result. Like every web server, we may keep short technical logs (such as the time, your IP address and any error) for up to 14 days to keep the service safe and stop misuse.
4. When you write to us
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply and help you. We keep them only as long as needed, and up to 12 months after. We never add you to a mailing list.
Messages from the Report a problem page
If you use our Report a problem or request a tool page, we save what you type (your message, the tool, an optional link, and an optional name and email). We also save a scrambled one-way code made from your IP address, only to stop spam and repeat messages. We use your details only to read and answer your message, and we keep them up to 12 months after we close it. You can ask us to delete your message any time by emailing us.
Space Planner sign-in
To use the Space Planner you continue with your Google account. Google tells us your name, your email address and a Google account number, and we save these three things. We do not get your password, your contacts, your files or anything else from your Google account, and we never post for you. We also save the date and a short code for each new design you start, only to apply the limit of 4 new designs a day.
Your room plans are saved in your own browser and are not uploaded to us. Signing in sets a cookie that keeps you signed in on that device for up to 30 days (see the Cookie Policy). You can delete your account yourself on the My account page. This removes your name, email and design count from our server straight away. Signing in is free and we never charge for the Space Planner.
5. Cookies, ads and statistics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which tools are used. Google may set cookies or use device identifiers for this. It may collect your approximate location, browser and device type, the pages you open, and your ad interactions. We do not receive your name or email from Google, and we never send Google what you type into a tool. Read the Cookie Policy for the cookies and how to turn them off.
Besides that, we use your browser's local storage for small things like your dark mode choice and the last values you used.
6. Sharing
We do not sell or rent your data. The company that hosts our server handles data only to run the site for us. Google Analytics receive the technical data described above, as our service providers. We share data with authorities or courts only when the law clearly asks us to.
7. Your rights
You can ask to know, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, withdraw your consent, nominate someone to act for you, and make a complaint. Read how on the DPDP Act notice page, or email hello@toolpoint.in.
8. Other websites
Some results show images or links from the websites you check. When you open them, those websites may see your visit. Their own privacy policies apply.
9. Children
ToolPoint is a general tool site and is not aimed at children. The DPDP Act treats anyone under 18 as a child. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children, we do not track them, and we never show them targeted ads.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
