Podcasts are great for long drives, walks and train journeys. But streaming uses mobile data, and sometimes there is no signal at all. The simple fix is to download the episode first.

Every public podcast shares its episodes through an RSS feed. That feed has a direct link to each MP3 file. Our tools read the feed for you, so you do not need to understand any of it.

The quick way: search by name

  1. Open the Podcast Downloader.
  2. Type the name of the show, like The Daily or Planet Money, and press Search.
  3. Tap the right show. You will see every episode with its date, length and file size.
  4. Press Download next to the episode you want.

The file gets a clear name with the date and title, so it is easy to find later.

Found the show on Apple Podcasts? Copy its link and paste it into the Podcast Episode Downloader. If you paste the link of one episode, that episode is shown first.

You can also paste an RSS feed address directly. Feed links often end in /feed, /rss or .xml.

Saving many episodes at once

Going on a long trip? Use the Podcast Batch Downloader:

  • Load the show.
  • Tick the episodes you want, or press Select all.
  • Press One by one. Your browser may ask to allow many downloads. Say yes.

Tip: podcast episodes are big files. For more than five episodes, "One by one" is safer than a ZIP, because it does not need to hold everything in your phone's memory.

What about Spotify?

Spotify does not share its podcast files publicly, so no tool can download them. The good news: most shows are also on Apple Podcasts, which works fine.

Is it okay to download?

Yes. Podcasters publish their feeds so people can listen, including offline. Just do not re-upload or sell someone else's show.
