What is the Event Catering Quantity Calculator (India)?

Making too much food wastes money. Making too little is embarrassing. Caterers use simple per-person amounts to plan, and so can you.

Enter the number of adults and children, how many guests usually turn up, and a small safety margin. Then set your menu: how many starters, sabzi, dal, rice dishes, sweets and drinks. We give the total quantity of each item, plus raw rice, atta and dal to buy, and the number of plates needed.

How to use it

  1. Enter adults, children and the share of guests who will come.
  2. Set how many dishes of each type are on your menu.
  3. Change the per-person amounts if your caterer uses different ones.
  4. Read the total quantities and raw items to buy.

Frequently asked questions

How much food is needed for 100 guests?
For a full Indian meal, plan about 450-600 grams of cooked food per adult, spread across all dishes. With 3 sabzi dishes, that is about 27 kg of sabzi for 100 people.
How much rice per person for a party?
About 100-150 grams of cooked rice per person when there are also rotis. That is 40-60 grams of raw rice.
How many rotis per person?
Usually 2 to 4 rotis or 2 naans per adult, depending on the rest of the menu.
Should I plan for every invited guest?
Not always. For most events 85-95% of invited guests come. Add a small 5-10% extra for safety.
