Frequently asked questions

How many mango trees are in one acre?
At 10 × 10 metre spacing, about 40 trees per acre. With high density 5 × 5 metre spacing, about 160 trees.
How many guava plants per acre?
At 6 × 6 metres, about 110 plants per acre. High density guava at 3 × 1.5 metres can hold around 900 plants.
Why does triangle planting fit more trees?
In the triangle (hexagonal) pattern, each tree is the same distance from its neighbours but rows are closer, so about 15% more trees fit.
What is quincunx planting?
It is a square pattern with one extra tree in the centre of each square. The extra fast-growing filler tree is often removed later.
